Options, choice and Selection

I had almost finished the cup of tea, and was about to leave the tea stall. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder, “Sir, aren’t there customers at the shop?”, I asked Mr.Aravinda. He is a fellow, owning a medical shop at our college campus. “No sir”, he said “no more customers. And I don’t want more customers to be there. More customers mean more number of patients, meaning more disease. Is it worth earning money like that sir?”.

I looked at his face. He was smiling. And his words were firm, affirmating his love towards the people. He continued to tell his story. He is about 40 years old. Before opening the shop, he was a Regional Manager at a pharmaceutical company at Bangalore. Then he got a promotion to some higher post. even though the salary was heavy, the job was hectic. Now he had too many options spread in front of him. Many other companies had offered him good designation, and facilities. But the most liked option for him was to leave the job!!! And he left it, and opened a medical shop at the campus of our college!!! And he even defended that he took the decision for the sake of his family, and the whole family supported him in that situation.

Such things happen!! There occur situations when we are given many options and will be having a chance to choose only one of them!! Look back in your life! you will find thousands of such decisions you have made(or we have made). Most of the times, all will choose the same option. Why is it?

Few times, we are not at all given an option. Nature selects us for something and we have follow what it says. Aravind tells about it-“Sir, are we given an option while deciding our sex? or the sex of our children? It’s the nature’s selection and we always have to nod for it, as we have always done.” Ya, he is quite right. It always true that we are given options only when we deserve to choose. Otherwise, we are only selected., to do something, to obey the natures law..

“So,” he continues, “when we are given options, they are a gods gifts for us. We must choose the best from that to make our lives more beautiful, as I did”. Now, According to me, Aravind is the one of the only few people in the world who are living happily just because of theie choice.

Hi Sumant.. long time..
Well Ankit you see its human perception of things and subtle feelings which are certainly different from one person to another. I feel he has done a fantabulous job. Infact I knew about his while in college itself. his story was doing rounds in hostel
